Travel
From as early as I can remember, seeing new places and meeting new people has thrilled me. I hate routine. I hate it so much that I don’t travel by the same route to office every day. If I could change my profession tomorrow, I’d want to step into the role of a travel writer cum photographer.
Being a nomad at heart, I think, comes from being a Sagittarius. The purpose behind hitting the road is to break out of the mundane and find out what’s out there. Life is an amalgamation of all sorts of experiences, including the good and bad. So the more you see, hear and do, the more your horizons expand. This quest for broader horizons is what keeps me going.
Contradicting this passion of mine to explore, is my need to be well planned and prepared. But the more I leave the comfort of the known behind at home, the more I realize that you can never be fully prepared. Learning to live with this helps me push my own boundaries.
Of course, with half my life’s savings invested in camera gear, the practical limit to how far I can go into the unknown is obvious. For example, it would be quite foolish of me to travel long distance alone with all my gear , for the simple reason that I cannot always keep an eye on my luggage. There is certainly a joy in traveling with gay abandon, but then I would have to compromise on my other passion - photography.
Because no two journeys can ever be the same for the keen traveler, I always find it important to record the experiences and thoughts when the mind is displaced from the known. So I usually keep a notebook and make notes when traveling. Many of these jottings don’t make their way to the travelogues I write later, although they sow many seeds for what I end up writing. The travelogues in this section will hopefully deliver what I intended them to be - informative and entertaining.
